Our Story

Fresh Company was formed by partners Shelley Boris and Kimball Gell in 2004. We are a multifaceted food company offering full-service, off-premise catering; in-house, food-service operations; and in 2018 opened Dolly’s, a restaurant and bar on the banks of the Hudson River in Garrison, New York.

We are inspired by great gatherings; meaningful, creative work; and delicious food. Fresh Company is dedicated to being an asset to the global and local community. We emphasize the use of local, fresh ingredients from the Hudson Valley, much of it organic. Our food is comforting and cosmopolitan.

 We work with our neighbors and Hudson Valley nonprofit organizations, such as offering an annual fundraiser for the Cold Spring Farmers’ Market. We were a winner of the Putnam County Trailblazer Award for an environmentally conscious business. We are members of Slow Food and Chef’s Collaborative. We also participate in the Culinary Institute of America’s externship program. Shelley Boris has published a cookbook, FRESH COOKING: A Year of Recipes from the Garrison Institute Kitchen (Monkfish Book Publishing, June 2014) reflecting our philosophy and style.
